A Woman Called Truth chronicles the life of Sojourner Truth from the day she is sold away from her family as a young girl, through her struggle to free herself and her son, to her emergence as a popular and respected figure advocating abolition and women's rights. Sojourner Truth's story is recreated for the stage in this powerful, musically infused, play that combines her actual words with authentic slave songs, spirituals, and folk songs of the period. With wit, courage and wisdom, this remarkable figure in history proves as timely and relevant today as she was over 200 years ago.
